Dan Smeby is a celluloid based filmmaker, dancing between the borders of fact and fiction. He aligns the tangibility of film with ideas of home, occupying himself resolving truths and insights of hope through a tango of time. He graduated from Concordia University, in Montreal with a BFA while founding Ctrllab: Montreal Art House, A.I.R Program. He now curates original Super 8mm & 16mm footage for live performances with musicians, DJ’s and performers in Canada and the USA. Spending his time between Toronto, Montreal, Brooklyn, and Detroit. “Lever Lencre” is Dan Smeby’s first film funded by the Canada Council for the Arts and is now being distributed by CaribbeanTales Worldwide Distribution.
